| My specialization is cellular biology. A major focus in my lab is the rapid turnover of cellular membranes and factors which control or regulate that turnover. |

Other interests include cytoplasmic organization and development in the green algal coenocytes Caulerpa and Codium and the mechanisms that drive the slow opening and rapid closing of the Venus flytrap. |
| Currently I teach Principles of Biology, Eukaryotic Cell and Developmental Biology, Plant Anatomy, and Techniques in Electron Microscopy. |
