Description of current research and/or professional activities:
Prior to joining the Department of Animal and Nutritional Sciences in 1996, Dr. Ruth Reilly worked as a registered dietitian in many areas of nutrition, including outpatient counseling, hospital clinical dietetics, geriatrics, community nutrition, and private practice. Due to this experience Dr. Reilly routinely brings "real-life" situations into the classroom, which benefits her students understanding of theory and concepts. She enthusiastically enjoys teaching and working with students as an instructor and advisor.
Dr. Reilly's research interests are in the area of women's health. Her recent Ph.D. work dealt with decision making and outcomes (biological, social, and psychological) of hormone replacement therapy use in older women. Dr. Reilly's current research is YAHRSI (Young Adult Health Risk Initiative) that is examing dietary and health status in UNH students.
